The Kelu Chao Journalists Safety Fund provides emergency assistance to imprisoned journalists and those facing imprisonment overseas.
The KCJSF is working closely with Freedom House, which is responsible for all logistics — vetting each case, transferring the money to the prisoner (or their family), and documenting all payments made. The money can be used for expenses such as legal costs, medical needs, food, and resettlement costs.
The Fund is also supporting the efforts of Voice of America and RFE/RL to free their journalists who are imprisoned overseas.
